Swindon Town under no obligation to offload players in January despite Ian Holloway's "over budget" comment

The Moonraker understands the comment about the club being “over budget” relates to the original budget at the start of the summer. Swindon’s recruitment team received access to additional funds late in the transfer window.

Swindon Town do not need to sell or release more players during the January window, despite manager Ian Holloway stating the club are “over budget”.

Holloway made the comment at his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Accrington Stanley, when quizzed about the departure of wing-back Jeff King this week.

King has moved to York City just three months after signing a contract in Wiltshire, with Swindon agreeing to cancel his deal at the County Ground in order to facilitate the move.
