Has 'dead man walking' Ian Holloway identified exactly what makes managing Swindon Town so difficult?

ANALYSIS: Holloway's remark could, at least in part, be attributed to the fact he was occasionally reading from a Pirates of the Caribbean notebook during the interview. But the sentiment behind his answer was rooted in a very real feeling about the situation at the club.

Ian Holloway says he feels like a "dead man walking" at Swindon Town, as the manager attempts to protect his players from a weight of frustration which has been building around the club for considerably longer than his tenure.

It was a striking admission during the manager's press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Rochdale. But perhaps it shouldn't be particularly surprising.

Swindon's recent results have been poor, confidence has dipped and an extraordinary injury crisis has left Holloway contemplating taking three or four youth-team players with him this weekend simply to make up the numbers.
