Swindon Town eliminated a £100,000 release clause in the contract of Paul Glatzel when he signed extended terms at the club earlier this month.
Glatzel put pen to paper on a three-year deal ahead of the start of the new term, extending his stay in Wiltshire until 2029.
His previous contract had been due to expire at the end of this season, and Swindon were keen to tie him down for longer – but it was the threat of the possibility he could walk away for relatively little which sparked the Robins into action.
Ian Holloway revealed the existence of the clause during his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Cheltenham Town this weekend.
