Renaming the County Ground is a perfect tribute to Nigel Eady... keeping it indefinitely would recognise his impact

The figures involved in renaming the ground in his honour must be applauded for putting aside any frictions or difficulties to get this done. There is only one better way to make this recognition more impactful: make it permanent.

It was a fitting tribute to a man whose personal legacy has impacted on Swindon Town more than just about any other.

The decision to rename the County Ground in honour of Nigel Eady, whose benevolence allowed club and supporters' trust to purchase the stadium from Swindon Borough Council last year, has unsurprisingly gone down well across the fanbase.

Eady was a man of principle and heart, who wanted his club to survive and thrive long after he was gone - and to that extent left a seven-figure inheritance to better it.

He is just the sort of person who ought to be immortalised in the identity of a stadium.
