Mark Kennedy's pursuit of optimism was admirable but he became the butt of too many jokes... there was no way back

Most fans only care about two things: entertainment and results. The Swindon Town of Mark Kennedy delivered too little of either, far too irregularly.

And so, here we are again.

Mark Kennedy’s position had become untenable, not just for the results themselves but the nature of many of the performances and the detachment between his public perspective and that of many supporters.

His focus on data riled plenty, and while several of his arguments made sense in isolation, the relentless fallback to statistics after defeat turned his post-match interviews into self-parody.
