Lack of progress behind the scenes at Swindon Town risks undermining recovery job under Ian Holloway

Holloway’s resurrection job has given Swindon the longest possible pre-season for 2025/26. They will have nearly five months to prepare, yet it is hard to shake the feeling that the opportunity is already being wasted.

“What I want is to make sure that everybody outside wants to come here… to make this a place where everybody wants to be.”

Ian Holloway has a clear vision for Swindon Town. But for it to come to fruition, someone is going to have to start making some decisions.

The sense of inertia that has sat like pea-soup fog around the County Ground in recent weeks is refusing to lift.

That inertia has, by complete coincidence, seeped into the results on the pitch too. Swindon have drawn their last four matches and are now neither in danger of slipping back into the relegation scrap nor within reach of the top seven.
