Ian Holloway says he has been given a target of promotion at Swindon Town: Here's why this is unfair and unrealistic
The average for seventh place over the past 10 full seasons is 73. To get there, Swindon would need 61 from a possible 96, or 1.91 per game. Extrapolate that over the course of a full campaign, and you get 88. Over the past 10 full seasons, 88 points would have won the title on five occasions.

Clem Morfuni has set Ian Holloway the target of promotion this season, despite Swindon Town’s dismal League Two start.
The Robins have won two of 14 league games this term and currently sit 22nd in the bottom tier of the EFL, with 12 points.
Still, according to Holloway, the club’s ownership have lofty ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.
“He wants promotion and a cup run,” said the new Town boss, who has only signed on initially until the end of 2024/25.
