The community is desperate for their club to do well... this has to be the season when things start getting better

If you love football, the first day of the new season offers so much: hope, fear, belief, doubt, confidence, anxiety and, perhaps most of all, relief. For Swindon fans, the notions of hope, belief and confidence are becoming increasingly alien.

Relief that the rude interruption of the summer has been navigated; Saturday routines can resume; lazy conversation-starters return; nature is healing.
