Letting the direction of Botan Ameen's future turn into a public standoff does no favour to anyone

Allowing this situation to take the appearance of a disagreement between an 18-year-old and one of the most experienced managers in the game feels like a dereliction of duty by those charged with looking after the forward.

Botan Ameen’s contractual situation as Swindon Town is threatening to turn into a manufactured standoff, and if that happens it can’t possibly end well for anyone.

When Ian Holloway says he doesn’t feel a “big enough” club has come in for Ameen, he means it.

Thus far, The Moonraker understands there have been at least three formal approaches for the player – none have come from a Premier League club, despite several sending scouts to monitor his progress last term.
