Let’s get one thing straight, the County Ground desperately needs redevelopment.
It is an ageing, tired facility, some three decades behind many of its peers in the EFL. It does not provide a modern, family-friendly experience for supporters. It does not offer 21st-century non-matchday revenue streams for the club.
Today, there is a proposition on the table to deliver the first phase: renovation of at least part of the stadium is closer now than it has been since the construction of the Don Rogers Stand in 1994.
