Swindon Town would have not known about their chances of signing Ollie Palmer had they not been in discussions with Ryan Tafazolli over a switch to the County Ground.

Palmer was confirmed as Town’s 13th signing of the summer on Friday (August 29), after the striker came to an agreement with Wrexham over the termination of his contract in north Wales.

He has put pen to paper on a two-year deal in Wiltshire, giving Ian Holloway the cover for Harry Smith that he was searching for after Swindon’s number 10 ruptured his ACL last week.
