Swindon Town’s appointment of Mark Kennedy as the club’s new manager was held up by an intervention by another EFL side.

The Moonraker understands Town had all but completed the deal to bring Kennedy to the County Ground last week, only for late interest from a League One team resulting in a delay to contracts being signed.

Staff at Swindon were initially expecting to announce the Irishman’s arrival on either Monday or early on Tuesday, but it was not until Wednesday afternoon that the confirmation came.

The identity of the club which made its interest in Kennedy known is not clear, nor is the nature of the interest itself.
