Swindon Town are closing in on the signing of a midfielder to provide cover for the injured Gavin Kilkenny.
Kilkenny faces up to five months out with a broken ankle, and the Robins are lacking some of the fluency and calmness in possession the Irishman offers.
Manager Ian Holloway is acutely aware of those gaps in his squad at present, and he and his recruitment team have been working on three potential options to reinforce midfield.
After the goalless draw at Northampton Town on Saturday (August 15), Holloway indicated that a move for one of those targets is close to completion.
