Ryan Delaney's recovery boosted by time at St George's Park but defender still set to miss start of new season

Delaney arrived at Swindon with a knee injury which curtailed his 2023/24 campaign in February. He is now back training on grass but is unlikely to be fit for the first game of the League Two term at Chesterfield.

Ryan Delaney is still unlikely to be fit to start the League Two season, but his recovery from a knee injury is progressing well.

Delaney signed on at Swindon Town with the problem, which curtailed his 2023/24 campaign in February. The Moonraker reported earlier in July that Town were planning to be without him for at least the first week of the new season.

The Irish centre-back has spent time at St George’s Park - the national football development centre - as part of his rehab, and the benefits are starting to show.

Delaney is now back training on grass, and Swindon are hopeful it will not be too long before he is available for first-team duties.
