Ryan Delaney has agreed a deal to join Newport County, with the defender’s switch back to his old club expected to be confirmed this week.

Delaney has found his route to first-team football at Swindon Town blocked during Ian Holloway’s time in charge at the County Ground.

Holloway told the centre-back in the summer that he was surplus to requirements, but a suitable offer was not forthcoming.

However, Newport have moved to take the 29-year-old back over the Severn Bridge in this winter window.
