Paul Glatzel is likely to need an operation on the hamstring injury he suffered during the victory at Cheltenham Town.
Glatzel had to be substituted at half-time after pulling up with the issue. He was immediately in evident discomfort and after the game the striker was said to be visibly upset in the dressing room.
He is due to see a specialist in the coming days for a formal diagnosis, but fears are that the injury has the potential to rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of Gillingham’s visit on New Year’s Day, Ian Holloway suggested surgery could well be on the cards.
