Swindon Town do not intend to replace the outgoing head of football Jamie Russell in the short term, and will not make a decision on the future of the position until after the January transfer window.

Russell’s departure, first reported by The Moonraker, was confirmed by Town on Tuesday (November 26). Russell is understood to be set to join Salford.

It is now 34 days until the January window opens. Town will need to be busy when it does. Ian Holloway has specified his desire for the club to recruit “leaders”, but experienced players at full match fitness will not be easy to come by.
