Ian Holloway dampens expectations of Harry Smith return after striker's appearance in training sparks fan excitement

As previously reported by The Moonraker, an early comeback was never likely. And on Friday (March 27), Holloway all but excluded Smith from being part of the first-team’s competitive setup this season.

Swindon Town fans are not going to see Harry Smith in action this season, despite his recent return to training on grass, manager Ian Holloway has confirmed.

Pictures and video of Smith at the club’s Beversbook facility were released by the Robins on social media this week, sparking excitement among supporters that the mountainous striker could yet feature before the end of the campaign.

Smith has not played since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in August. However, he was added back into Town’s official squad – as submitted to the EFL – during January.

This, plus the sight of him in training, had led supporters to contemplate a comeback.
