Harrison Minturn faces up to a year out of action after suffering a rupture anterior cruciate ligament while on loan at Chippenham Town.
Minturn only joined Chippenham on an initial one-month deal last week but was injured in his second game back with the National League South side.
He subsequently underwent a scan which revealed a significant injury in his knee.
It is a terrible blow for Minturn, who spent the second half of last season sidelined by a groin problem.
