Jamie Russell has confirmed Swindon Town failed in an attempt to land Dawson Devoy.

Devoy, who spent the second half of last season on loan in Wiltshire from MK Dons, was available on a free transfer following his release from Stadium MK.

An offer was tabled to bring him back to Town, but the midfielder preferred a return to Ireland, where he has signed for Bohemians.

“We went after him, it again fitted what we want: creative, someone who can run with the ball and drive, and loads of potential,” Swindon head of football Russell told The Moonraker.
