The club have been fined £1,000 and warned as to their future conduct in this area. Clarke, meanwhile, has been given an additional one-match ban for failing to abide by the terms of his suspension.

Swindon Town have avoided serious sanction from the Football Association after being charged with fielding a player while banned.

Ollie Clarke’s appearance in the Vertu Trophy at Luton Town sparked an FA rap.

Clarke was not listed as ineligible on the governing body’s disciplinary portal, giving Swindon reason to believe he could feature.
