Ian Holloway would take hit on playing budget to enhance pitch renovation, as proposal put to Swindon Town management

Substantial pitch refurbishment is high on Ian Holloway’s agenda this summer, and he would be ready to sacrifice a chunk of his playing budget to ensure the work is done.
The County Ground playing surface has struggled during the second half of the season, as extreme weather conditions and an increased amount of use have combined to make life particularly difficult for head groundsman Matt Povey and his staff.
While the pitch has generally held together, it has lost an increasing percentage of its grass covering and any further heavy rain over the coming weeks could cause further headaches.
