Swindon Town's moves to tie Joel McGregor to improved deal hit snag as Robins prepare for tough summer of negotiations

The Moonraker understands the offer that is on the table is a one-year extension on fresh terms, which would increase his pay packet and put Town in a stronger position to negotiate with third parties if another club came in with a bid.

A busy summer of negotiation has already begun at the County Ground, as Swindon Town try to convince Joel McGregor to extend his stay in Wiltshire.

McGregor still has a year left on his current contract, with the option for a further season, but Swindon are keen to recognise his contributions to the first team – and protect their asset.

The full-back is on first-year pro rates, which ultimately amount to little more than minimum wage.
