Swindon Town have insisted council-mandated safety work will be completed in time for this weekend’s opening home game of the League Two season.

Over the course of recent days, allegations were made by fan protest group The Spirit of 69 that Swindon Borough Council’s event safety advisory group had instructed the club to engage in infrastructure upgrades at the County Ground.

SO69 intimated that the work, if not completed before Saturday (August 9) could impact the staging of the visit of Cambridge United. The Moonraker has been separately told that could have come in the form of reduced matchday capacity.
