Swindon Town have been thrown out of the EFL Trophy after being found to have breached competition rules in fielding two ineligible players during their last-16 win at Luton Town.

A disciplinary panel made a ruling on the case on Wednesday (February 4), reinstating Luton in the competition and slapping Swindon with a £40,000 fine, half of which is suspended.

The decision comes more than three weeks after the game at Kenilworth Road, which Town won 2-1 with goals from Will Wright and Filozofe Mabete.
