Swindon Town held their own in bruising Boxing Day bout... whisper it, but a corner might just have been turned

It was far from attractive. At times it was downright dirty – midfield scrap after long aerial clearance – but it was what was necessary to get something out of the game.

Is the corner really starting to be turned?

Swindon Town’s travelling fans at Plough Lane, and those who could find the correct Sky Sports stream at home, were treated to another fast start and a resilient performance thereoin as an encouraging draw was secured at AFC Wimbledon.

Swindon were combative, competitive and clinical with the one big chance they manufactured.

There was a dollop of good fortune, too, with a late Wimbledon winner disallowed contentiously. Defeat would have been tough on Swindon, who had more than matched their promotion-chasing opponents in every area of the pitch.
