Spare us the indignation. This Swindon Town away day was not as bad as some may have you believe.
In most aspects, this was a considerably improved away performance against a Salford side who are anticipated to be among the challengers for automatic promotion in League Two this season.
Salford have plenty of pace out wide, plenty of skill up front, and yet for the vast majority of this match, Swindon Town looked in control at the back.
Stefan Negru and Kaelan Majekodunmi showed again that they can be an effective centre-back pairing, while James Ball, deployed at right-back from the start, recovered from a tricky opening 10 minutes against Kelly N’Mai, perhaps the best winger in the division, to develop a sense of resolve and calmness against his opposite number.
