Drowned but not out: Swindon Town’s experience at soggy Salford City might have been chastening but it served to highlight the fine margins between success and stasis in League Two.
With 20 per cent of the race run, Swindon remain lodged in the promotion battle: fourth place, three points off the top.
But the weekend defeat brought into sharp focus the sustainability of the ‘we’ll score one more than you’ approach in such an unpredictable division.
The 19 goals Town have managed so far in the league is better than anyone else in the EFL. Yet, only eight of the 72 have conceded more than Swindon’s 13.
