What is it with the League Cup?
Swindon’s record in all cup competitions over the past decade has been atrocious, but in the EFL Cup – the stage which gave the club its greatest moment - it is absurdly poor.
In fact, the Robins have not won a game in this knockout tournament for exactly 10 years and a day. The last time? A 2-1 victory at Luton Town on August 12, 2014 when Michael Smith scored twice.
Since then, defeats have followed to the point losing in round one may actually have to be considered a tradition: death, taxes, and the inevitable mid-August Tuesday-night disappointment.
