Is the season starting to turn? Swindon Town emerge through ominous October in better shape... despite late Halloween scare against nine-man Rotherham

ANALYSIS: Swindon's overall xG for the match was just 0.99, according to FotMob figures. Their open-play xG was just 0.59. That is curiously low for a team with a man advantage. Against 10 men, Swindon produced an effective and efficient enough team performance. Against nine, though, they were diabolical.

It might be like trying to navigate an HGV through a chicane, but slowly and surely, Swindon Town appear to be turning a corner.

Not that Saturday afternoon's victory over Rotherham was as convincing as perhaps it should have been.

Playing against 10 men for more than 80 minutes, and ending against nine, Swindon provided plenty of endeavour but little end quality, and were left to rely on a deflected strike and a fine free kick to see off their opponents.

It has become somewhat knee-jerk, though, to search for the negative when it comes to Town's performances on the field this season. And this was not, by any means, an explicitly poor showing.
