Statistically, there was little in it. And that fact the visitors had more of the ball over 90 minutes shows how bitty proceedings were.
This was not an evening for the purists. In fact, for long periods it was a challenging watch for each of the 6,500-odd hardy souls who’d decided a seat in a wet stadium was favourable to the comfort of their front rooms.
