In the context of the game, a fair result. In the context of what happened elsewhere, two very big, very heavy dropped points.
Swindon Town’s stale draw with Fleetwood Town at the County Ground was hardly inspiring. But did it justify boos at full-time and a steady stream of very negative, sometimes abusive comments on social media?
The frustration within the Town fanbase at present is acute and tangible. There is an overwhelming sense that everyone – from the top of the club to the youngest supporter – is straight up scared of this season becoming yet another missed chance.
There is good reason for this sentiment. The club has been allowed to float rudderless for too long; there have been too many false dawns and broken promises; the enjoyment of the good times is often superseded by the expectation of the bad.
