Ask any manager or head coach in professional football what they can learn about the first six weeks of a new season, and they’ll quickly the move the conversation on.
It’s a sensible course of action. Act too bullish, and you’re encouraging hubris. Act too negatively, and you take away from the sense of optimism around your club.
But with nearly a fifth of the league campaign done, there are blatant trends starting to show, which should give an insight into the direction of travel over the coming months.
