Could Swindon shift systems to keep Jack Payne quiet and neutralise Colchester's main threat in FA Cup clash?

Muzzling Colchester United’s not-so-secret weapon will be critical to Swindon Town’s chances of a rare victory in the first round of the FA Cup.

Jack Payne is a known quantity to Swindon after two good years in Wiltshire. And the Robins did make an attempt to resign the midfielder in the summer, albeit not a particularly convincing one.

Payne is the Colchester quarterback, pulling the strings in front of the backline.

His pass accuracy is above 80 per cent for the season; he has created 29 chances – more than anyone in his position in League Two, and 16 more than any of his teammates; and he sits second for assists in the fourth tier among his peers (4).
