Ian Holloway brings the chaos to the County Ground... now can Swindon bottle the feeling of that last-minute equaliser?

It was, particularly in the half-hour or so before the break, a pantomime of the absurd. Town’s manager-in-waiting straddled low-level walls, jumped between a dozen vantage points, and eagerly chatted with whomever in the crowd was lucky enough to have been – for a few moments at least – alongside him on his makeshift bench.

Is that the spark?

Had you accidentally teleported into the County Ground with a minute and 10 seconds left of Saturday’s game against Gillingham, you could have been forgiven for thinking Swindon Town had just secured promotion, such was the general outpouring around the stadium after Harry Smith’s late equaliser.

That back-post header, with a minute of second-half injury time remaining, drew wild scenes. Scenes that have not been witnessed in SN1 for quite some time. Scenes which gave a rare reminder of why we all do this football thing.
