In 2018, Dolce & Gabbana released a series of Instagram videos, promoting a Shanghai fashion show.
Within them, a Chinese actress – dressed to the nines in sparkling evening wear - struggles to eat Italian food using chopsticks, set against a score of traditional music.
Less than 24 hours later, following considerable backlash from the people of China, the videos were deleted. Not long after, the fashion show – which had been somewhat ironically labelled 'A Tribute to China' - was cancelled.
