Matchday

The fun disappeared long ago, now the hope is going too... so what is there for Swindon Town fans to hold on to?

Swindon are now 24th out of 24, 92nd out of 92. Last. Worst. This is no longer a patch of bad form, nor is it a redeemable slide. It is a funeral march. A long, pathetic funeral march to a shallow EFL grave.

Tonight, every Swindon Town fan who had made the trip to Colchester United was offered a hot drink: a seasonal thank you, on the part of the Supporters’ Club, for their remarkable commitment in this most miserable of years.

Those Bovrils would barely have cooled by the time the Robins had sunk to the bottom of the Football League, just nine minutes in. They might just have been spat out prior to half-time as Town wobbled, retched and whimpered to a 4-0 defeat.

Swindon are now 24th out of 24, 92nd out of 92.
