Swindon Town have scored once in five league games Carlos Green

Where have all the goals gone? As Swindon Town's barren streak goes on, The Moonraker looks into what's causing the drought

ANALYSIS: Swindon have scored only twice since the 3-1 victory over Colchester in September. It is a deeply disturbing trend, which ties into several factors: a reduction in clear-cut chances, Aaron Drinan’s return to more normal levels of efficiency, general confidence and a manager under immense scrutiny.

The goalscoring well appears to have run all but dry for Swindon Town over the past month or so. But why? And what can be done to fix the problem?

Town have endured a very difficult spell, slipping from second in the table in early September to 17th following defeat by Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

As they prepare for the visit of Walsall to the County Ground this weekend, they will be acutely aware of both the meagre run of results, six defeats in seven in all competitions, and, perhaps even more concerningly, the absence of goals.

Swindon have scored only twice since the 3-1 victory over Colchester in September. One was Antwoine Hackford’s strike against Crystal Palace Under-21s in the EFL Trophy. In the league, Joseph Hungbo’s back-post header against Accrington is the Robins’ only goal in that time.
