A Tuesday night trip to Prenton Park brings back memories of the most chaotic 24 hours of my career

Andy and I spent the journey rehashing fan tweets and speculating wildly about who the next head coach would be, all the while trying to keep a blog running via an old-school dongle which would have been lucky to receive 2G, on a Cold War relic of a laptop.

It’s a long way to Birkenhead on a Tuesday night, and I should know.

Eleven-and-a-half years ago, on a bitterly cold February evening, Prenton Park was part of the most manic 24 hours of my professional career.

It was the day after after Paolo Di Canio had announced his resignation as manager of Swindon Town, via a statement released through the Swindon Advertiser.

We were working long hours in Adver Towers at the time, given the carnage caused by Andrew Black’s decision to halt his funding.
