Kirkman is out of contract this summer, and despite enjoying a breakthrough 2024/25 – one of few Town players to emerge out of that campaign in credit – his future is somewhat fragile.

The 22-year-old could feel a little aggrieved at how he’s been used this season, although his natural character is such that he almost certainly won’t.

His 15 appearances have been interrupted by injury, but also manager Ian Holloway’s habitual urge to swap him in and out.
