How many forwards does one League Two team actually need?
Having done more stacking and racking this summer than the average Amazon warehouse worker, Swindon’s abundance of options up front would ordinarily appear to be overkill.
Among their ranks, the Robins have three players who could be legitimately termed ‘targetmen’ – Harry Smith, Aaron Drinan and Princewill Ehibhatiomhan. Billy Bodin still considers himself to be best in the number nine role, while Jake Tabor was a prolific non-league hitman.
Then there are the wider forwards – the likes of Botan Ameen, Joe Snowdon, currently playing right wing-back, and Danny Butterworth, for whom an offer of substance from another club may well tempt Swindon in the remaining days of the transfer window.
