Without Stuart Atkins, the Jake Tabor story could have been really quite different.

Atkins, Tabor’s former manager at Amersham Town, has been pivotal in the striker’s headline-making, record-breaking antics in non-league and, ultimately, his elevation into the pro ranks.

He has heavily invested in Tabor, in football, human and cash terms – having personally part-funded the striker’s contract at Amersham, as well as providing moral and practical support to the 22-year-old’s attempts to realise his professional dream.

And he and Tabor remains close friends as the forward embarks on his debut season in the EFL.
