The people of Shrivenham Road must have wondered what on earth was going on.
There they were, coming up to 2pm on the last Saturday before Christmas, happily minding their own business - putting up tinsel and scrambling around Amazon for a last-minute present – when 500 orange heads bobbed on past the window.
The Spirit of ‘69’s first public action was certainly eye-catching.
Police estimates put the total number of marchers on the short route to the County Ground at around 500, while there were considerably more orange hats in the stadium as volunteers handed out freebies to those who attended the rally at Statue Park.
