Sean Wood had expected to be a one-club man.

Having started with Swindon Town as a part-time under-eights coach nearly two decades ago, he rose through ranks to eventually lead the club’s next generation to their best FA Youth Cup run this century.

A Swindon fan, and a Swindon man – he grew up in Liden and now lives in the north of the town – he was sentimentally, geographically and historically attached to a club he cares about more than (nearly) anything else in the world.

Last month, though, he changed his morning commute for the first time in 18 years. For the first time ever, in fact.
